The Thumb Controller Mate unit (TCM) is only used for extended range (XR) applications. The TCM is located very close to the remote operator.  If the operator is using an SUV as his 'Control Room' he would normally sit in the front passenger seat with the TCM beside him on the driver's seat.

All of the extended range equipment and the operator's flat screen TV cables plug into the TCM.  Since there aren't any cables connecting the Thumb Controller to the TCM the operator is free to move around and can comfortably control and monitor the remote loader.
