BHP’s Ekati Diamond Mine in the North West Territories is a large block caving mine which has 16 sets of Nautilus teleremote equipment installed in the tunnels on the K1970 level. The entire K1970 level used to be teleremote controlled from two of BHP’s Toyota Land Cruisers but one of the Toyotas has now been replaced with a Control Room.

Nautilus supplied all of the Powercam teleremote equipment for the new Control Room plus an Automated Guidance System (AGS) Control-Chair and a Fibre-Optic Receiver.

BHP uses single mode cable to connect the Nautilus Fibre-Optic Tx and Rx modules. This lets their Control Room be up to 30 Km away from their loaders.
